Online Safety at School

Online Safety at School

At Coverack Primary School we believe that online safety plays a vital role in keeping children safe. To help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material we have security measures in place to filter inappropriate materials during on-line activities and to monitor staff and pupil use of the available IT resources. We record and manage any online safety incidents in accordance with SPCMAT policy. At Coverack School we teach online safety to all year groups. We explain and demonstrate how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.

To be successful at keeping children safe online, we need to work with parents to ensure the online safety message is consistent. It is important that parents spend time discussing with their children how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

At Coverack Primary School, the children use laptops, chrome books and iPads and have controlled access to the internet to help their learning.  We use the following rules to keep everyone safe and help us be fair to others.

I will only access the system with my own login and password, which I will keep secret

  • I will not access other people's files
  • I will only use the computers for school work and homework
  • I will ask permission from a member of staff before using the Internet
  • I will not give my home address or telephone number, or arrange to meet someone, unless my parent, carer or teacher has given permission
  • To help protect other pupils and myself, I will tell a teacher if I see anything I am unhappy with or I receive messages I do not like
  • I understand that the school may check my computer files and may monitor the Internet sites I visit.
