Primrose Class - Reception, Year 1 and 2

In Primrose class we have a mix of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children, taught by Mrs Shainberg and Mrs Dowker, with assistance from Mrs Pascoe.

Our fantastic classroom and covered outdoor area allows us lots of space to learn and be creative. We love to use our roleplay area and work together on our interactive smartboard. In maths we love to use manipulatives to support our learning.

We love to use the outdoors and local environment for our learning. In History we have learnt about Mary Anning, the fossil hunter. We took part in a fossil hunt on Coverack beach and used books to identify the fossils we found. We have also taken part in a local area study in Geography. During a field trip around Coverack we were able to identify different human and physical features and mark these on a map.
In our Classroom we have a History chronology timeline displaying significant events, people and dates in the order that they happened. We are currently learning about Mary Seacole, a nurse and healer who cared for wounded and sick soldiers during the Crimean War. We are learning the skills of what it means to be an historian; particuarly interpreting evidence and proving why she is still significant today.
